Administrative Leadership

I am a skilled and empathetic facilitator, coordinating conversations on the committees I chair and also between faculty and the college administration. My administrative philosophy centers on building sustainable systems that allow faculty and students to thrive.

Strategy at a Glance

Faculty Liaison for Evaluation and Assessment

I served as Queens College's inaugural Faculty Liaison for Evaluation and Assessment from 2023 to 2026, working directly with Provost Patricia Price to bring a faculty voice to administrative decision making. In this role, I built lasting institutional and human infrastructure for assessment and evaluation across the college, spearheading initiatives across accreditation, assessment, evaluation, general education, and faculty climate.

Leading Middle States Reaccreditation

  • I was one of three members of the Executive Steering Committee, leading the campus's successful reaccreditation process from start to end. Along the way I:

    • Identified, invited, supported, and empowered working group members;
    • Made major contributions to the self-study design and self-study report;
    • Developed and sustained a comprehensive communication plan;
    • Built and coordinated the evidence collection structure, process, interface, and completion dashboard; and
    • Ensured logistical success in the site visit coordination.

Developing Custom Assessment Practices

  • I built lasting institutional infrastructure for assessment, including useful, manageable, and sustainable assessment reporting, now used by all 32 departments across campus. I established the Assessment Council including dedicated Assessment Coordinators for each academic school; I worked with this team to develop and facilitate professional development to improve assessment capacity across campus.

Reenvisioning Academic Program Review and annual reporting

  • I developed a phased, comprehensive APR framework to address faculty and administrative concerns with the old process. In tandem I developed a new annual reporting process, consulting with departments at every stage and ensuring integration with the APR process. These processes are now fully implemented across the college and have been well received.

Coordinating the COACHE Survey Response

  • I led the campus response to the COACHE faculty climate survey and coordinated a follow-up action committee.

Ensuring continuity

  • I helped to onboard the new Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness when they were hired, and worked to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities to my successor.

Faculty Fellow to the Provost

In 2018–2019, I served as one of two Provost's Faculty Fellows. I worked directly with Provost Hendrey and the academic deans and contributed to the 2019 Strategic Planning Retreat. I was the architect of the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Initiative, a plan developed with campus decision makers to raise the visibility of teaching in annual evaluation, tenure, and promotion, encouraging professional development in teaching and valuing the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Departmental Personnel and Budget Committee

I was elected by my peers to be a member of the department's Personnel and Budget Committee from 2020–2023. In this role, I ran a successful lecturer search for a position that was joint between the mathematics and SEEK departments. The role also entailed annual evaluations of non-tenured colleagues, and discussing other matters related to personnel and budget.

Curriculum Committee Chair

I chaired the department's Curriculum Committee from 2017 to 2022 and I continue to contribute to the committee's work. During my time as chair, I addressed twenty curriculum proposals in my first year, I shepherded through the Data Science and Statistics major option, and helped to develop the accelerated MA program. In 2018–2019, I led the department's Curriculum Reform Initiative, reforming the pure and applied mathematics majors for the first time in 50 years. As such, I am an expert in curricular matters and processes with connections throughout the college.

Community Leadership

I was elected to serve as District Leader in Assembly District 28 Part B for the Queens County Democratic Party. In this volunteer role, I work to build a stronger and more representative democracy in my community.
